Spring Nail Trend to Try: Pale Blue Polish

Now that warmer weather is finally on its way, wintry nail polish hues (think black, navy and wine) are making their red carpet exits — and making room for new hues. Our favorite of the latest crop: this pale blue hue, which seems to have popped up overnight. And Hollywood’s leading ladies are (sorry, we have to) nailing it! Check out three looks we’re loving and let us know which shade you’re into.

Emma Roberts (left) chose a cool mint-tinted blue that matched perfectly with her Finders Keepers dress. Her pale chiffon midi was a breath of fresh air, considering we had watched the actress sporting black all season in American Horror Story: Coven. We recommend trying the Essie “Rock the Boat” lacquer for an equally delicate shade.

Lena Dunham (center) opted for some robin’s egg-blue nails that are a sweet counterpoint to her burgundy fit-and-flare gown, while Drew Barrymore (right) also went for a contrasting blue shade, choosing a delicate sea blue shade that has us dreaming of a sandy beach — complete with cabana boy and all-you-can-drink mojitos. (Drew’s is her own Flower Beauty nailpolish in “Thistle or That.”)

“All the new collections are in blues,” says PEOPLE StyleWatch beauty assistant Madelyne Zollo. “It’s a fun color that you can do in so many different ways. And with all of the different shades, it can work with any skin tone.”

No matter which blue you pick for your tips, the options are limitless. Whether you want to try “Blue Me Away” from Sally Hansen or Zollo’s personal favorite “Cool Blue” from Jin Soon, you can’t go wrong — but remember you only have ten fingers, so don’t get too carried away.
