“Honestly, I do understand that I have a younger fan base, but I also have a fan base that’s my age and that I kind of relate to,” she told PEOPLE Saturday at the New York launch of her namesake fragrance at Macy’s Herald Square. “I am getting a little older, but it’s not anything that I’m not proud of.”
The pop star — who turns 20 in July — graces the cover (below) of the women’s fashion glossy wearing a stunning mesh Dolce & Gabbana corset dress, with the fashion getting steamier inside the magazine: she also strikes a pose in a deep-plunging metal-chain YSL dress and a Vera Wang bandeau bra paired with tight, striped Marni pants.
“I think it was very classy,” the star continued of the spread. “It isn’t anything that I wasn’t comfortable with. I thought it was beautiful — I loved it.”
On Saturday, Gomez continued her style streak in Versace high-waisted shorts and a matching bandeau top teamed with a white Vanessa Bruno blazer (above) — to promote her new business venture, Selena Gomez Perfume.
“I’m excited — it’s actually here! It feels like it’s been a minute for it to come out and everything,” the star revealed. “My fans have been there from the beginning, so they kind of already have an idea of what it is, so I’m excited to just have it out finally.” (Fans were able to vote on the ingredients they wanted in the scent earlier this year.)
The talented star hinted at the possibility of a second fragrance, too, “Hopefully if this one does well,” she joked. “We’re not aiming for it yet, but I would love to.”
Gomez’s sweet fragrance features notes of raspberry, chocolate and vanilla and is available to purchase now at Macy’s stores and online.
