SAG Awards 2016: Ariel Winter Says Red Carpet Dressing Is 'More Stressful' Than Picking Out a Prom Dress

Posted on

Modern Family‘s Ariel Winter always chooses elegant styles on the red carpet and in real life (her prom dress is a must-see!). And at the Screen Actors Guild Awards she explained just how stressful picking out a dress for big events can be.

When asked how it compared to getting ready for her prom the star shared, “They’re both stressful, you’ve gotta look great for prom, you’ve gotta look great for the awards, but I think it [the red carpet] definitely is more stressful because there’s so much more pressure on the red carpet for people. I think it’s a little bit different.”

As for her body-hugging mermaid style Romona Keveža gown for the SAGs, she said it made for an interesting car ride. “In the car when I tell you that I laid down like this and stared at the ceiling because I could not get up, that’s exactly what happened.”

Winter recently turned 18 and celebrated with a Moroccan themed bash with 300 guests and spilled all the details on the carpet. “It was Moroccan-themed… so we had belly dancers and we had a lot of really cool things,” she explained. “My cake was awesome, it was just a really great night, all my friends, family, everyone was there — like 300 [guests].

She added, “I’m Greek, you’ve got to factor in family members.”

The actress was recently featured in the latest issue of People where she revealed she’s currently in the process of applying to colleges and hopes to become a social-justice lawyer one day.

“I’ve had a tumultuous relationship with the court system. But with what I’ve gone through, I think it’s really important to become a voice for abuse victims who have no voice,” says Winter. “I want to be able to make a difference.”
