There were a lot of noteworthy makeup and hair looks on the SAG Awards red carpet, but none more so than the beauty looks that perfectly matched the gowns. It was a fun way to make a statement without going overly eccentric — and we have a feeling we’ll be seeing much more of it in 2014.
First up, Lupita Nyong’o, who sported rich blue eyeshadow to go with her elegant Gucci column gown and dyed-to-match shoes. She rarely plays it safe on the makeup front — and in fact loves to experiment with pretty colors — which we hope gives other actresses a push to try some bright looks themselves. An exact-match blue would have been cheesy, but the wash of indigo on her inside eye corners feels fresh and wearable.
Malin Akerman, meanwhile, went for an advanced lip color look, matching her bronzy-nude lipstick to the embellishments on her Naeem Khan gown. All of her makeup had a golden, sun-kissed glow, but the lipstick had more than just a touch of gold — fun and much cooler than the expected bright pop of color.
And finally, Elisabeth Moss went traditional by pairing her red Michael Kors gown with an equally vibrant lipstick shade. This is the easiest look of the three to pull off, and the one we dare you to try this week. But if you go for one of the others, we’ll be impressed! Send us pictures on Twitter if you do!
