Between Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, your credit cards may be worse the for wear. But it’s officially the holiday season, and that means there’s no time for slowing down, especially not when it’s (drumroll) Giving Tuesday. Today, tons of retailers are offering great deals that support charities to keep your shopping momentum going strong. And in case you need more convincing to shop today, Rachel Bilson is here for you.
The actress teamed up with eBay for Charity, which is offering hundreds (yes, that’s hundreds) of once-in-a-lifetime experiences on Giving Tuesday. There’s a chance to meet and swim with 28-time Olympic medalist, Michael Phelps. Get a hand knitted scarf from Broad City‘s Ilana Glazer. Or even score tickets to the Grammy Awards and after party! As if those gifts aren’t cool enough, shoppers who buy the brand’s Giving Tuesday Charity Shop are entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a “Weekend in LA” experience including round-trip air travel, hotel and dinner, plus a one-on-one styling session with Bilson.
“I do it basically for all my friends all the time,” she tells PeopleStyle about her styling skills. “They’ll come over and be like ‘Oh, we’re shopping in Rachel’s closet,’ so it’ll be fun to pull clothes and put outfits together, acting like their personal shopper/stylist. I like to do it anyways, so it’ll be fun for me.”
Her go-to items during her personal shopping sessions always incorporate color. “I’m a big fan of doing pops of colors with accessories — starting basic and then just building up from there,” she says. “Explaining how I do my thing will be fun, and then to just create together and incorporate their own style I’m really looking forward to.”
As for Bilson’s own style, she’s all about vintage denim. “I have a pair of jeans that I’ve had since I was 13 years old that are old bell bottom Levi’s. The zipper doesn’t really work, but I still wear them and I’ll never get rid of them.”
And a few pieces in her wardrobe have an “as seen on TV” vibe that’s one-of-a-kind: “I did manage to get a few items from [Hart of Dixie‘s] Zoe Hart’s wardrobe, which I was really happy about because she had some good stuff! There are a few Isabel Marant pieces that I got to keep, which I was really happy about.” (Any chance those will end up on eBay?)
Though Bilson says she’s a bargain shopper who tends to splurge more on her daughter than herself, she will occasionally indulge in a pair of shoes. And where better to do that than, you guessed it, eBay? “Genuinely, eBay has everything, so the fact that they have this option to give back makes it my main go-to.”
What are you buying for Giving Tuesday?
