Below, please find the actual transcript of a chat conversation that happened between two of our style editors [Note: One is in San Francisco, we don’t work in a completely silent office] regarding Nina Dobrev’s new, blonder ombré do.
Alex: I’m just going to say it: I don’t get it. She had perfectly nice brown hair and this is Vanessa Hudgens lite.
Brittany: You’re so wrong. This is the best ombré moment to happen since Khloé Kardashian.
Well, since Alex ended up being the editor writing this, Brittany’s opinion may be underrepresented, but either way, we can all agree that Dobrev’s lighter locks are worth discussing. She’s always had dark brunette hair, which worked well for her moody Vampire Diaries role and made her look regal and mysterious. Her new sun-kissed look has more of an approachable Cali-girl vibe, which is cute and fun for summer, so we can’t blame her for trying something new.
Of course, it goes without saying that there’s probably a little extra help from some lighter extensions throughout — so it’s possible the super-blonde sections are only temporary, and she’s only subtly lightened up her ends. Or maybe this is just the beginning of an allover blonde hair transformation. Before she makes any major moves either way, tell us in the comments: On which side of this debate do you fall? Should Nina go blonde, stay ombré or go back to brunette?
