The arrival of fall means that changes are all around us. Not only are leaves slowly transitioning into vibrant shades of red and yellow and temperatures are starting to dip into the 50s, but the start of this new season also means it’s time to break out all of your finest back-to-school fashions. So shake those moth balls out of your sweaters, trade in your cutoffs for your favorite skinny jeans, and while you’re at it, you might also want to consider investing in a few sets of X-shaped pasties and see-through tops, because that’s happening this fall if these celebrities have anything to say about it.
While we’re used to fall meaning a return to flannels, corduroys, and everything pumpkin spice latte, what we never could have predicted is the emergence of pasties as one of the biggest statement looks of the season. Nicki Minaj, who’s no stranger to a barely-there nipple covering, is the most recent star to show off her taped-on underpinnings, performing at the Tidal X: 1015 Benefit Concert wearing a completely sheer lace bodysuit but keeping things PG-13 with a black thong and X-shaped pasties worn underneath. In other words, a look so fierce a girl can’t help but twerk.
Perhaps the MC was inspired by the daring all black lace and leather look Joan Smalls wore last week. The model attended an Intimissimi lingerie event in an S&M inspired ensemble, pairing her silk trousers and leather peplum belt with a lace bodysuit and a simple set of X-shaped pasties to make this NSFW look safe again.
But back in September, Christina Milian clearly kicked off this whole bodysuit-nipple cover craze, wearing the look of the season to celebrate her 35th birthday in a checkered and rococo-patterned, see-through one piece with a black strappy thong and black tape fashioned into Xs saving her from an accidental nip slip.
While most of us probably don’t have an array of sheer onesies and variously shaped pasties at our disposal (unless you’re Miley Cyrus, of course), at least we now know the perfect present to get everyone on our holiday wishlist this year. Just call us Bad Santa.
