There was lots to discuss in Tuesday night’s State of the Union, but since this is a style site, we’re going to get straight to the the style high point. No, not all the red-and-blue bipartisan ties, though those were very nice too. We’re talking, of course, about Michelle Obama‘s forest green ensemble, designed by Azzedine Alaïa. The dress had a fitted bodice and full skirt, made from the designer’s signature textured material and with bands of a deeper green fabric encircling the skirt. Her jacket was made to match, and she added a wide leather belt to the outfit. Everything else — from her center-parted hair to her jewelry — was kept simple.
