Last night, as surreal as it may seem, reality TV star and real estate heir Donald Trump won the election to become the next President of the United States, which means his Slovenian third wife Melania will be our future FLOTUS. And it seems the first foreign-born First Lady since John Quincy Adams’ wife, just as she borrowed some notes from Michele Obama’s speech playbook, also took a style cue from her husband’s opponent Hillary Clinton on election night, choosing to wear an all-white jumpsuit.
Clearly, the former model liked what she saw during the final debate between her husband and Clinton, opting for her own take on the suffragette-inspired ensemble. In the early hours of Wednesday morning as results were made official, the Trump family took the stage at the Hilton Hotel in midtown Manhattan with Melania wearing an all-white jumpsuit, oddly enough made by one of Clinton’s go-to designers.
The one-piece outfit, created by Ralph Lauren, the designer behind many of Clinton’s campaign trail ensembles, features a wide leg pant and a one-shouldered top with a ruffle that cuts across the body on a bias. Trump’s daughters, Ivanka and Tiffany, also opted for simple monochromatic looks, wearing almost identical sky blue cocktail dresses. If there’s one thing both sides of this election can agree on it’s that our future first family, if nothing else, is certainly well dressed.
