Khloé Kardashian on Being Excluded from the Fashion Industry for Her Weight: 'Stylists Had Nothing in My Size'

Posted on

The Kardashians are known for their flashy, over-the-top style where no top is too tiny, no dress too bodycon and no face too contoured. So when we point out that Khloé Kardashian continues to find new ways to show off her abs with her daily apparel, it should hardly come as a surprise. But couple the reality star’s love of a full face of makeup and a skintight look with her most recent shoot for Harper’s Bazaar where she shows off a super dressed-down, makeup-free side of herself, and you can’t help but think Khloé might still have a few more tricks up her duster sleeve after all.

While out shopping in Beverly Hills on Monday, the reality star decided it was an all black everything type of day. Khloé flaunted her hyper toned physique in a black disco-inspired top that cinched in a knot across the bustline giving everyone a flash of midriff, paired with her favorite ripped-knee skinny jeans, black suede Christian Louboutin booties and an oversized Birkin bag. But while this look is pure Studio 54 glam, it was revealed on Tuesday that she also recently posed for a super low-key, minimalist photo shoot for Harper’s Bazaar accompanied by a no-holds-barred interview where she gladly discusses every aspect of her life.

The 31-year-old is the first to admit that she wasn’t always as fabulously put-together as she is now. In fact, once upon a time, she not only struggled to find clothes that fit her frame, but she was completely ignored by the industry all together.

“I definitely think the fashion industry, and people in general, look at me more now that I’ve lost weight,” she confesses in her new interview with the magazine, “Even on shoots, I would never have options for clothing. There would always be this attention on Kourtney and Kim, but I was too much work for [stylists] or they had nothing in my size. I wasn’t even that crazy big!”

But thankfully, she’s had her stylist Monica Rose by her side since season 1, who, “At my fattest, Monica would always come with racks of clothes and make me feel special. She never told me, ‘Oh, they don’t have that in your size.’ Other people actually said, ‘I just can’t work with you’– because I was too big. That always hurt my feelings, of course.” And now, those same stylists are begging to dress her for public appearances, to which Khloé has a curt response: “I’m just like, ‘F— you. I’m not going to reward your bad behavior.'”

It’s nice to see Khloé rocking an aesthetic in this shoot that’s as stripped-down and raw as her personality is, unabashedly speaking her truth and demonstrating that while strong may look better naked, nothing’s as sexy as beauty that radiates from the inside out.

What do you think of Khloé’s new photo shoot? Do you prefer the reality star makeup-free or all done up?
