As we slowly count down towards 2017, many out there are likely already throwing together their annual list of resolutions, or more likely yet, realizing just how many resolutions from last year you’ve let totally fall by the way side. But as they say, “new year, new you,” and while it’s still just the early days of December a handful of celebs are already starting to make that maxim their style and beauty motto. Like Katy Perry, Jennifer Aniston, and Olivia Munn who each arrived at the Office Christmas Party Hollywood premiere in looks that broke with their traditional fashion M.O.
While Katy Perry’s natural state of dress typically tends towards all things campy and technicolor, but her latest ensemble was decidedly old Hollywood.
For the film’s premiere, the pop star kept things chic and simple, wearing a long black Cinq à Sept dress with a thigh-high slit and a halter neckline embellished with row upon row of pearls. Perry accessorized the classic look with a pair of sheer polka dot tights, ankle strap heels, and a Charlotte Olympia Walk of Fame box clutch truly worthy of a silver screen siren.
Jennifer Anniston also ditched her typical red carpet attire of one tried and true little black dress after the next, going for something with not only a ton of color, but a ton of patterns as well. For the premiere, the actress opted for a Roberto Cavalli floor-length slip dress from the brand’s Spring 2017 collection featuring a patchwork of all-over embroidery to create a very bohemian effect.
But while those celebs were taking a baby step out of their sartorial comfort zone, Olivia Munn took the occasion to debut a major beauty transformation.
The actress chopped off her usual bust-length locks into a tousled bob. Munn’s stylist Christian Wood said of her new style, “We’ve talked about cutting her hair for quite some time now, but tonight we finally did it! In the end, it was about 12 inches off. To compliment this new look, we wanted a style that was cool and effortless. Her hair is quite straight naturally so we went a bit choppier with the cut and created an overall undone look.” So while 2016 may have been the year of realizing stuff, it seems 2017 might be the year of change.
