They don’t call her the queen of wardrobe recycling for nothing!
After debuting a week’s worth of new ensembles, Kate made her latest Royal Tour appearance in Christchurch, New Zealand wearing a red wool suit from Luisa Spagnoli that she first wore in 2011 to visit her alma mater St. Andrews (and to reportedly sign the condolence book there for the victim of the 2011 Christchurch earthquake).
At her most recent outing, the Duchess joined the city in a somber ceremony commemorating the earthquakes, then took the field to play a game of cricket (in heels!) at the city’s Latimer Square, then opened the new Christchurch botanical gardens by cutting a floral garland.
Kate showed the versatility of the suit, which she first wore with a turtleneck and boots, by adding pumps and pulling her hair back in a half-up do (a rarity for her). She purchased the belted ensemble from Hollie de Keyser, a boutique in London’s Knightsbridge.
“She looked stunning, and we are proud and flattered that a style icon for women of all the world like her has worn Luisa Spagnoli,” managing director Nicoletta Spagnoli told PEOPLE after Kate first stepped out in the suit in March 2011. “The color red is perfect for her brunette hair and pale skin.”
The Italian label is a family business that dates back to 1928. In 1962, actress Sophia Loren modeled for the company’s catalogue.
Are you loving this return to a favorite from Kate’s wardrobe? What would you like to see her rewear next?
