Karina Smirnoff is no stranger to being on camera; dancing in tiny costumes in front of millions of people during 15 seasons of Dancing With the Stars tends to cure you of stage fright pretty quick. But even a seasoned TV pro like Smirnoff can feel a few jitters when she’s trying something new — as she was last Thursday when appearing on HSN to show off her latest line of wares for Foot Petals.

“I was really nervous the first minute but then it felt very easy and natural,” Smirnoff tells PEOPLE of her HSN debut. “The rehearsal, on the other hand, didn’t go as smooth. I had an earpiece in my ear where the director would tell me what camera to look at while a host was talking to me and the audience, and I had to speak about Foot Petals and hit certain pointers. As simple as it sounds, in the beginning it definitely didn’t go as smooth as I wanted to! But the live show went great.”
One thing that definitely soothed her nerves: She turned the sales floor into a dance floor right away. “In terms of being nervous, it was just like Dancing With the Stars she says. “I even had a dance on HSN with Shemar Moore.” We got to sneak a peek at their backstage rehearsal, and we’ve gotta say, Moore‘s got some serious skills — and a possible recruiter for next season in Smirnoff. “Shemar has moves!,” she says. “I think he would really do so well on Dancing With The Stars. He’s got natural rhythm and talent!”

And just like she knows a little something about being in front of the spotlight, Smirnoff also knows a little something about foot pain in high heels — something she swears is a thing of the past with her new Foot Petals line. “Any pair of shoes becomes comfortable and a joy to wear,” she says. “I love shoes, and for the most part, every woman can agree with me that the more beautiful a pair of shoes is, the more uncomfortable it is. Adding my Foot Petals makes every pair of shoes in my closet my favorite.”
