Kanye West Stars in Balmain Ads (Again) - This Time without Kim Kardashian

Kanye West is at the top of his design game these days (he recently teamed up with Adidas on an athleisure line to complement his successful Yeezy shoes) but he’s still game to support brands he admires. He and the entire KarJenner family love wearing the brand’s apparel, hitting the runway and sitting front row in the brand’s shows, and now Kanye’s repping the family as the star of the French fashion house’s fall ads.

Balmain’s fall 2016 campaign centers around the theme of “music meets fashion,” according to designer Olivier Rousteing’s Instagram. So he called up Kanye for the “music” element, tapped model Joan Smalls to represent the “style” side and outfitted them both in the brand’s signature pieces. Smalls wears an explosion of ruffles, while West is modeling the embellished jacket and shredded denim look he loves.

It’s a look familiar to anyone who saw the star at the 2016 Met Gala, wearing a very not-black-tie-appropriate ensemble including a white tee, boots and a distressed blue jeans (all by the brand) — though it did earn him a “best dressed” nod from Vogue.

The last time West starred in Balmain ads was in 2014 alongside wife Kim Kardashian in a steamy embrace.

His sisters-in-law Kendall and Kylie Jenner also got their time in the spotlight for last year’s fall campaign.

And although mother-in-law Kris Jenner is yet to get a campaign of her own, she has been known to wear Balmain pieces better than everyone else — Justin Bieber included.
