There hasn’t been much happening for Team USA on the slopes and the rink (as far as gold medals are concerned, anyway). Fortunately, we can always rely on Johnny Weir to bring the magic off the ice. The two-time Olympian has translated his signature flamboyant figure skating costumes into television presenter attire for his commentator role at NBC, and the results have been among the most talked-about moments of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
“I decided to go more of Stanley Tucci’s character from the Hunger Games,” Weir explained to Philadelphia magazine. “I’m trying to stay between the lines of Johnny on Skating with the Stars and the rest of the NBC men’s family in Brooks Brothers.” (And he’s got some outfit ideas for Bob Costas, once that red eye clears up.)

Weir has been documenting his #OOTD on Instagram in case curious fans want to go out and buy their own Cheburashka ring (Kerin Rose Gold), hot pink jacket (vintage Chanel) or lace tank (Joie). He also provides hair close-ups in case you need help creating your own braided pompadour. And he’s not playing coy about how much work goes into looking this fabulous every day. “I do what every fashionista does and I overpack so I have options,” he said in an interview with USA Today Sports. “If I’m retaining water that day I don’t want to wear something that’s super form fitting.”
And while you shouldn’t expect to see any repeats (“I have a log in my computer that reminds me, at this event you wore this, with this, these underwear, that watch, just so I know,” he tells USA Today) you may be surprised to see him in Uggs. “I’ve held onto Ugg boots. I will never graduate to Crocs, but Ugg boots are always and forever. That’s my fashion stepchild.”
We rounded up some of our favorite looks of his (so far) but we can’t contain the magic that is Weir’s Olympic outfits (and his style influence on co-commentator Tara Lipinski) in one post. Check out his Instagram and tell us: What’s your favorite outfit so far? And how much do you want to borrow his jewelry when he’s done with it?
