Jessica Alba's Summer-Ready Hair and Makeup: Exactly How to Get It!

Posted on

It should come as no surprise that Jessica Alba is a constant source of style inspiration. So, when we were recently tasked with finding a gorgeous celeb face to kick off our annual summer beauty special (check it out PEOPLE’s current issue, on stands now), Alba’s bronzed skin and bouncy waves at the MTV Movie Awards were the obvoius choice. We went straight to the actress’s glam squad to get the scoop on her look.

When Alba’s longtime makeup artist Lauren Andersen saw the actress’s white crop top and lemony Kenzo skirt, she was thrilled. “The outfit was so bright and she was so tan! It was a great summer look.” With that in mind, Andersen created a sexy glow, using a palette of bronze and gold tones.

On Alba’s body, she combined the actress’s Honest Co. Face + Body lotion with a dab of Scott Barnes Body Bling for a very subtle allover shimmer. She warmed up Alba’s cheeks by layering Hourglass’s Ambient Lighting powder in “Radiant” and Lorac’s Tantalizer Baked bronzer.

Andersen stuck to warm tones on Alba’s eyes, too. She used brown eye shadows from Avon on her lids, and kept the focus on a “healthy lash line” using Avon’s Mega Effects mascara, and a few individual false lashes to make her lashes look “soft and fluffy.” Andersen completed the look with a peachy-pink lipstick from Avon.

Hairstylist Davy Newkirk also took his cues from the actress’s outfit. “It was a modern with hard lines, so I thought it would be cool to offset that with something super soft and sexy.” He started by prepping her naturally wavy, damp hair with John Frieda Luxurious Volume blow-out spray, which “gives the hair shine and hold so you can manipulate it into curls.”

He then blew her out with a big round brush and curled it with a large barrel to achieve her “touchable” waves. His finishing touch? A side sweep. “It gives you a look, there’s something sexy about it,” says the stylist, who put a deep side part on the left side of Alba’s crown before bringing her hair over her right shoulder to show off her awesome earrings.

The result? A super easy look that’s sure to become our summer signature — and it’s not even Memorial Day.
