Jessica Alba is the head of a $1 billion dollar lifestyle brand (The Honest Company), one of “America’s Richest Self-Made Women” according to Forbes magazine and the proud mastermind behind her own ethical cosmetics line, Honest Beauty, yet somehow she has made time to channel her talents into fashion designing. She recently teamed up with denim company DL1961 to front its new grunge-inspired Spring 2016 collection (which you can check out below!) and design her own pieces for the fall line, proving she may honestly be the busiest businesswoman in Hollywood.
Alba explains her love of jeans (she’s regularly rocking denim in our “Love Her Outfit” gallery) is what inspired her to take on a fashion project.
“Oh, girl! I have all of it,” she tells Vogue in a new interview. “I probably have two full racks of denim and each hanger is doubled up. It’s excessive. It’s next-level. I wear so much of it.”

Her plan with DL1961 is to create eight to 10 unique pieces (to be available by August), and she’s already gathering ideas from her favorite models and street style stars. “My inspiration for most things in life is always the ’90s supermodels: Cindy, Naomi, Claudia. Those bodies! Lately I’ve been getting back into bell-bottoms, but high-waisted and not too flared. The jeans that I’m designing are going to celebrate women’s bodies and show off those curves.”
Her billion dollar business, The Honest Company, has been such a success thanks to its natural goods. None of their products contain harmful chemicals and toxins that other brands use. And being environmentally conscious is something she kept in mind when teaming with DL1961.
“DL1961 is a thoughtful company in the way they go about creating denim, and that angle was important to me as well,” she tells Vogue. And according to the brand’s website, it specializes in high performance and technologically advanced denim to create piece with 98 percent shape retention and 360 degree movement.
