Did you wake up this morning to realize that things just seemed a little bit … better? Well, that’s because H&M finally launched their long-awaited e-commerce site. No more sprinting to the store and fighting dressing room crowds on our lunch break; we’re now free to surf leisurely and load up our cart with the line’s always on trend, reasonably priced goods. So how are we celebrating? By shopping, of course! Below, see what five of our editors are snapping up on Day One.
Zoë Ruderman, Senior Style Editor: The first thing I thought when I saw this dress was, Isabel Marant! Something about the kinda sweet, kinda boho style, the pretty print and the effortlessly chic silhouette reminded me of the French designer’s pieces.
What doesn’t remind me of her pieces at all: the price tag. It’s just under $30!
Andrea Lavinthal, Style Director: Apparently I’m the last person to know that H&M has a home line (probably because the stores in N.Y.C. are always so insane, I make a beeline for the one clothing item I want and get out of there as fast as I can).
I browsed through the extensive home section and fell in love with this black-and-white print throw pillow cover. It’ll give my boring beige sofa a chic update and at less than $15, I can buy two and still afford to replace them with a new style next season.
Brittany Talarico, Associate Editor: Here’s a sartorial term to keep in your back pocket for the next time you want to impress a group of fashion-forward friends: treggings. Not to be confused with jeggings, treggings are a hybrid between trousers and leggings.
And since I have yet to venture into this pants category (I wonder if Jessica Alba has?), I’m going to test out the trend with this floral pair. I’m beyond psyched to try them on in the comfort of my bedroom, not some crammed fitting room. (Note to self: Read up on return policy. Those “Mock Pockets” — or as fellow editors have coined them, “mockets” — are questionable.)
Alex Apatoff, Style News Editor: One trend I have been super-afraid to try: smoking slippers. I think they look so cool on celebs, but every time I envision myself in them, I picture a weird, curly-haired Hef.
But I may conquer my fears with this cool studded pair. The monochromatic spikes give it a little edge — but only if you look closely enough — and the price is right. Best of all, I can try them on in the privacy of my own home in case they’re as horrible on me as I imagine.
Whitney Little, Associate Producer: I know I’m late to the leather skirt party, but for $24.95, how could anyone pass this one up? I love the cut, and the length is short enough to feel flirty but long enough to avoid any unfortunate wardrobe malfunctions.
And I’ll keep it feeling current with some single-sole pumps and a pretty blouse — none of last year’s stacked heels or patterned tights — so no one has to know I just bought it.
