Hilary Swank has never been one to shy away from going to great lengths for a role — whether it was her close crop for Boys Don’t Cry or gaining pounds of muscle for Million Dollar Baby — and her role as do-gooder is no different. Swank recently let Oprah Winfrey chop off a reported nine inches of her hair on TV to go to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program. Prior to receiving her Time for Peace award, Swank told PEOPLE of her new do, “I love it. It’s great to change things up.” And as for what prompted the decision to cut her hair off for charity, the Oscar winner said, “To help a woman who is going through probably the biggest fight of her life with dignity… to be able to cut my hair off and help make a real hair wig for Pantene Beautiful Lengths it’s a great thing to be able to do.” We couldn’t agree more.
