If you’ve ever shrunk your clothes in the dryer or turned a white shirt pink after washing it, Hilary Duff can relate. The Younger star, 29, admitted she’s much better at buying clothes than taking care of them when she stopped by PeopleStyle’s office recently to chat for our “5 Questions” video series.
Getting the clothes isn’t the problem, she says, and now that she’s in New York, her shopping passion is more intense than ever. “I used to be [a] strictly online [shopper] ’cause I live in L.A. and shopping at a boutique is like the worst,” says the star, who is also Visine’s newest brand ambassador. “I don’t want to drive somewhere and then be there for like an hour or an hour and a half. It’s just the worst. I rather it [be] online at night, get on, have it delivered to my house like Christmas. It’s so much more exciting.”
Moving to the east coast changed that for Duff. “But being a New Yorker, I feel like I spend so much more money,” she says. “I was walking down the street this weekend and I walked by Intermix and I literally was like, don’t look, don’t look, don’t look.”
However, once a shopping spree is over and the clothes are back safely at home, taking care of them can become a challenge. “I’m really bad at laundry actually,” she says. “I mean, I make sure I don’t put in anything that needs to go to the dry cleaners in there, but yeah, I kinda just put it all in at once. And then I end up ruining things. But when I’m looking at it I’m like that’s not gonna do anything to that and then I’m like, ‘No! How did this happen?'”
But other household chores don’t pose such an issue. “I can do dishes all day long,” she says. “I could load a dishwasher but I just suck at laundry.”
