If you just think of Fig Newtons when you think of figs, you’re missing out. Figs have been used for various health and beauty reasons including as a treatment for skin pigmentation diseases since ancient Greece. Figs also contain a high level of antioxidants, which fight free radicals, and they act as a natural humectant to help skin retain moisture. And they smell delicious, too. Maybe that explains why the flower (yes, this dried “fruit” is actually an inverted flower) is popping up in so many beauty products. You can find them in Korres Fig Showergel, $11; The Healing Garden Organics Fig & Lavender Body Lotion, $8; and Organic Bath & Co. Bath Soak, $10.
