Sexy cutouts have been all over the red carpet, and Dancing With the Stars host Erin Andrews jumped on the skin-baring bandwagon for Monday night’s episode. Her slinky black Jovani gown, with cutouts down the side, back and chest, was loved by everyone backstage in the ballroom.

“As soon as I walked out of the dressing room, everyone was talking to me about the dress,” Andrews told PeopleStyle. “I loved it because it highlights the only part of my body I can keep toned: my arms!”

The star said her stylist, Anita Patrickson “had a vision” for the look, so Andrews let her take the reins. “The cutouts outline such a strong silhouette and the shape it creates really pops on the camera,” Patrickson told PeopleStyle. “We paired it down with black diamond earrings and rings to keep it dark and edgy. Whoever said black was boring?”

For her hair and makeup, Andrews said she wanted “the dress to do all the talking,” so her glam team kept things simple and sophisticated.

“[Makeup artist] Mary [Klimek] tried a coral lip on me last night and I loved it! [It was the] first time I’ve ever tried a lip like that,” Andrews said. To achieve her perfect coral pout, Klimek swept Chanel’s Lévres Scintillantes Glossimer in ‘Amour,’ which gave her lips a classy shimmer and sheen.

Andrews’ hair stylist Ryan Randall said he took one quick look at her dress’s high neckline and immediately knew it called for a textured up-do “to add a bit of sophistication.”

He created the low-slung, twisted bun by first giving some body to the hair using a 1.25″ Harry Josh Marcel Curling Iron and plenty of Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. After securing the hair into a ponytail at the nape of her neck, Randall divided it into two sections. “I twisted them smooth, and kept twisting until they knotted down on themselves,” he said.

After twisting each portion into a low knotted bun, Randall pinned one on the left and the other on the right side of her head. “Freeform works best, [so it doesn’t] look overworked,” he added. “A bit of roughing up the top with my fingers, and we were ready [for] the ballroom!”

Without a doubt, Andrews’ completed look this week was one of her best. “I’ve never had so many compliments before,” she said.
