Emma Stone in Vogue: I Don't See Myself as a Style Setter

Emma Stone has had a seriously stylish month, kicking off a whirlwind world tour to promote The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in chic menswear, daringly different dresses, beautiful hairstyles and this showstopping moment. And now she’s capping the whole thing off with a Vogue cover — and true to her signature fashionably funny form, she conducted her interview in (wait for it) a Build-a-Bear workshop in a mall in L.A.

Stone, by the way, admits to Googling herself, even referring to herself as “that bland basic b—h,” which apparently is something she’s been called on the Internet. But there’s hardly anything basic about her style; after all, she’s a Met Gala regular on the arm of Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz (who’s reportedly taking her again this year). “I feel about Emma that she’s a close cousin rather than a celebrity I have to dress,” Elbaz tells Vogue, adding that she’s “a great date . . . my mother would have been proud.”

But despite Stone’s high regard in the world of fashion, she doesn’t see herself as setting trends. “No, I’ve never thought about that,” she says, but “It’s fun to get to borrow a dress for a night and dress up for something.” She’s equally sweet but vague about her romance with Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield (“It’s fun. It’s been fun working with him just because of who he is as an actor and person. I think it would be fun no matter what,” she says) but much more effusive on the subject of dressing the bear — just like we like her.
