Elite Models' Latest Global Search Is For 'Not the Cookie-Cutter Person'

Elite Model Agency is searching for the next supermodel – and they are looking for someone “diverse, original and authentic,” that doesn’t fit into the typical mold.

“They’re looking for diversity,” Juliana Herz, an ambassador for the Elite Model search tells PEOPLE. “They want a lot of different types of girls, not the cookie-cutter person. They want all ethnicities and heights — something different.”

As a 5-ft.-7-in. Costa Rican beauty, Herz is happy to be a part of the search for a diverse new model.

“I think it’s important, because girls should identify with the people that they see in magazines and in ads and on TV,” she says. “When I was little, I remember looking at magazines and thinking, yeah that looks good on her, but is it going to look good on me? Because I don’t look like that: I’m not blonde, I don’t have blue eyes, I’m not this 5-ft.-11-in. model.”

“I think it’s good to have different types of beauty so that all women feel identified, and all women feel, Yeah, I can look like that,” she continues.

Girls ages 14 to 19 are invited to upload a video to the model search. The winner will be chosen on August 31.

“Showing your personality is important, because personality is really important when it comes to modeling,” says Herz of what makes a good video entry. “When a person is really confident I think it makes them stand out. You’re going to walk into castings, and you have to leave an impression. All the girls that walk into a casting are beautiful, so you have to give something different.”

For anyone on the fence about applying, Herz’s best advice is to just go for it.

“Be confident and just give it a shot – you have nothing to lose!”
