On NBC’s Community, Alison Brie plays Annie, a tightly wound college student with a penchant for pretty patterns and conservative looks. But offscreen, Brie says she definitely differs from her character.
“I’m probably not as concerned with being appropriate all the time, and quite as buttoned up,” she tells PEOPLE in the clip above. “But I do follow her lead in terms of dressing feminine. She’s all about skirts and dresses all the time. And I’m big on that too — I can be a girly girl sometimes.”
Crediting her show’s wardrobe department with keeping Annie cute — she’s even snagged a few of her character’s skirts and sweaters — Brie says she prefers dressing for work over dressing for the red carpet.
“It’s a lot of work,” she says of getting ready for events. “And more importantly, the shoes are a lot less comfortable. For as put-together as Annie looks, her clothes are super-comfy, and I’m a comfort girl.”
