SHE'S GOT THE BEAT
Britney Spears is back! The pop star kicks off her 32-city Circus tour Tuesday at the New Orleans Arena in Louisiana, where she thrilled fans for more than 90 minutes in a show that ended with her hit “Womanizer,” performed in a sexy cop getup.

Opening the concert with her album’s title track, “Circus,” Spears descended from above in a red ringmaster-meets-dominatrix outfit designed by Canadian duo DSquared2. “We are enormous fans of Britney,” designers Dean and Dan Caten said in a press release, “and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to collaborate with her.”

The crowd rose to its feet as the singer – wearing a form-fitting bustier and lace-up boots – shimmied in a cage while being lowered from the rafters during the “Circus” opening number.

Going beyond the tour’s circus theme, the designers say they wanted “to create something much more provoking and indecent … something animalistic and primal” for Spears’s multiple looks, including this sheer ensemble.

She’s got the power! Wielding an oversized carnival mallet, the singer worked the stage at the 19,000-seat New Orleans Arena in coquettish pink-and-black lingerie and a feather bolero.

During a Bollywood-inspired version of “Me Against the Music,” Spears showed off her toned form in a green-and-gold harem pants ensemble as she played off her backup dancers.

With jugglers, acrobats, clowns and even a magician who made Spears disappear onstage, the concert tour promises to be a spectacle, and the costumes, say DSquared2, are an autobiographical tribute “for one that has always been in the spotlight: scrutinized, watched, imitated, photographed, criticized and loved.”
