Of course celebrities love to wear an outfit that causes a sensation. But some aren’t satisfied with simply turning heads, they also want to use their outfits as a means of subtly sending a message to fans about their inner feelings. Like when Katy Perry proudly proclaimed herself to be “Not Becky” in this post-Lemonade world, or when Taylor Swift hinted that she might have voted for Hillary by wearing a cold-shoulder top to the polls. And now it’s Bella Hadid‘s turn, switching out her usual nameplate choker that reads “Abel,” after her breakup with The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) in favor of a whole lot of Bella-branded neckwear accessories.
After a year and a half of dating, and just before they had a chance to make their love Victoria’s Secret runway official, Bella and The Weeknd have broken up. So it makes perfect sense that the model wouldn’t want a trinket dangling around her neck constantly reminding her of her most recent heartbreak. And it seems the model isn’t only using the occasion to rid herself of the unwanted name, but also support herself in the process.
Bella was spotted out three times over the past week rocking a new gold necklace, this time one with dangling letter charms that spell out her own name. The accessory was first spotted while she attended a Lakers game with friend Kendall Jenner on November 8, and then again while she was out around the city the following two days.
And Bella started off this whole self-love kick with yet another statement choker, naturally, a thick black ribbon embroidered with her name in gothic lettering.
It would seem all of this new jewelry is meant to replace that one conspicuously absent piece of jewelry, Bella’s gold Abel block letter necklace. But at least the model is now firmly on her way to cultivating a wardrobe full of monogrammed items that could only rival her sister Gigi’s.
