Giuliana Rancic is lucky enough to have skin so flawless it doesn’t require foundation — even when she’s on TV.

“I don’t wear foundation anymore on the red carpet, which is unheard of,” she admits to PEOPLE. “And even on E! News we don’t use foundation anymore, we just use tinted moisturizer. The key is that if you have good skin, and you take care of it, you don’t need a lot of makeup.”

Rancic attributes her great skin to DDF (Doctor’s Dermatologic Formula) skincare, a system of cleaners, moisturizers and more. “I’ve been using it for 10 years; I got turned onto them in the E! makeup room,” she says. “I love their stuff.”

To keep her skin clear, Rancic uses a mild cleanser and the brand’s SPF 45 sunscreen (“Sun spots and freckles are really what age you,” she says). The TV star then finishes her look with bronzer — “Just to give my face a little shape,” she explains — eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss. “I try to keep it easy,” she says.

At night, the mom-to-be is sure to wash off her makeup, uses the Revolve 400x micro-polishing brush twice a week and if she has a breakout, treats it with a blemish-busting cleanser. “Bill even uses it sometimes,” she says. “I can just spot-treat.”

It wasn’t always so simple, though; growing up, Rancic battled somewhat bad skin. “I broke out like everyone does, even into my 20s when I moved to Los Angeles,” she says. “I really was one of those people who tried to find different makeup products to just cake on and cover the imperfections, instead of treating them.”

But now that she has her skincare routine down to a science, she’s obviously much happier. “If you get to the root of the problem and use good skincare products, you won’t have to use a lot of makeup,” she says. “Plus, you’ll look fabulous.” Tell us: What are your skincare secrets?
