The Bachelorette is about many things. Love. Journeys. Bromances. Amazingness. And of course: Diamonds. Not just the one each girl is hoping for on her left ring finger at the end of the season, but also the jewels she gets to wear on her one-on-one date. Last night, Kaitlyn Bristowe got to experience all those things.
For her solo date with Jared, Kaitlyn and her tux-clad suitor met at N.Y.C.’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, where they toured the famous Temple of Dendur, ate a meal by candlelight and then took a limo to a helicopter ride around the city.
The Bachelorette donned a sheer black gown with a plunging neckline and back, a sideswept updo and a ton of Neil Lane diamonds, while her date got a vintage gold watch and gold-and-sapphire cufflinks from the jeweler. “I feel like the luckiest man alive,” Jared said as his glittering date descended the museum’s grand staircase. (For her part, Kaitlyn said, “I’m in this beautiful gown with these beautiful Neil Lane jewels, but I’m just having the hardest time concentrating or feeling romantic just because I’m feeling so stressed out.”)

“It was such a classy date and they were surrounded by all this beautiful art,” Lane tells PEOPLE exclusively. “The jewels had to be superb and had to be gorgeous for it all to work. Kaitlyn was like one of the paintings on the wall. She belonged in there surrounded by art. I wanted the jewels to be special, glamorous, significant. It was over 100 carats of diamonds and really special pieces and there was a cool elegance to the look. She couldn’t help but sparkle.”
So were the dazzling diamonds enough to keep the spark going between the two? Our recapper doesn’t think so, but we want to hear your thoughts in the comments.
