The trend started at the end of last month at an event in New York, when the engaged star donned what would become a recurring outfit: a black shift dress teamed with flats and a gold pendant (left). Then in Los Angeles last week, Hathaway wore a peplum knee-length Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci number and ankle-strap Tory Burch heels, once again, both in black (center).
The third time was the charm: on Tuesday at a New York City film screening, Hathaway sported the same gold necklace paired with another shift dress, this one by Dolce & Gabbana (right).
We usually don’t mind when actresses choose black — it’s always flattering, chic and sophisticated — but we expect more from Hathaway. She’s the female lead in one of the summer’s biggest blockbusters, which means this is her time to kill it on the carpet! If you ask us, she should take some pointers from a fellow star who’s in that other huge superhero movie: Emma Stone. She continually wowed us during her Amazing Spider-Man press tour … so your move, Hathaway.
