Teyana Taylor appears to be a generally unflappable woman. Whether she’s walking the runway for the first time with some of the biggest supermodels in the game, posing at fashion shows and for magazine covers, or showing off her insane physique as Kanye West’s new muse in the “Fade” music video, it seems there’s nothing that can faze her. But don’t let those rock hard abs confuse you, because as the singer and fashion’s newest favorite confessed in her cover interview with Paper magazine, there is one woman who can get under her skin, and that’s Anna Wintour.
During her turn on the Yeezy runway, Teyana appeared to be the epitome of swagger and bravado, confidently doing her thing in spandex bike shorts, a sports bra with plenty of underboob, and a jacket nonchalantly shrugged off her shoulders, as all the It Girls are doing these days. But she admitted to the magazine that underneath it all, she wasn’t quite as cool, calm and collected as she may have looked.
Teyana told Paper of her runway walk, “I was nervous as hell.” And what could have struck fear into the heart of the baddest gal to come along since RiRi? Why, none other than the woman who (allegedly) served as inspiration for The Devil Wears Prada, of course, Vogue‘s ever-intimidating editor in chief, Anna Wintour.
The “Fade” star continued, “I saw the posture, I saw the bangs, I saw the bob and I saw the shades, and I said, ‘Anna’s here.’ That’s when my nervousness really turned up. I love Anna. I’m obsessed with her. So, to know she was there, that she knows who I am…”
Well, if it’s any consolation, until you make it onto the cover of Vogue, there’s really no guarantee that Anna actually knows who you are. But regardless, we totally get how the sight of that blonde bob and blackout shades in your peripheral vision would be enough to strike fear into even the bravest amongst us.
