When it comes to red carpet fashion, there are some gowns that warrant a trip down memory lane. Stars such as Angie Harmon and Jennifer Love Hewitt flocked to vintage boutique Decades in Los Angeles to view iconic red carpet dresses from years past at the “Night Of Red Carpet Style” hosted by PEOPLE Stylewatch, including Lady Gaga’s 2009 MTV VMAs Jean Paul Gaultier dress and Cindy Crawford’s sexy Gianni Versace 1991 Oscar gown. Of her own red-carpet style, an-Azzaro clad Harmon said she prefers ballgowns: “I’m going to look like an explosion!” Whitney Port picked a Decades vintage Thierry Mugler frock for the evening, but is usually dressed-down: “When I don’t have to look like anything for anybody I’m usually in a T-shirt and jeans.” Actress Rose McGowan called her style “elegance with a twist. If I’m feeling punky, it’s a punk twist. If I’m feeling ladylike, it’s white gloves.” So is there a fool-proof way to look great on the carpet? “I think you need confidence,” said The Fast and The Furious actress Jordana Brewster. “Bad posture will kill you. I’ve learned ‘shoulders back!'” — Michelle Ward
