Amy Schumer Says Yes to Vogue, Yes to Love, Yes to 'Going to Bed at Any Moment in What I'm Wearing'

Posted on

Amy Schumer‘s most major comedic moments tweak typical female conventions — from a boy band that suggests she might look better if she wore a whole lot more makeup to a fat-shaming store that traffics in toddler-sized tops, there’s no topic off-limits for her to put her own spin on.

So what happens when a comedian committed to satirizing all things beauty, size and fashion lands the cover of the world’s most famous fashion magazine? A Vogue cover interview that breaks all conventions.

Schumer discusses everything from her boyfriend of six-plus months, Ben Hanisch (“We’re in love and we’re still in a total honeymoon phase. It’s a real relationship. Who knows what will happen, but we’re real good right now.”) to her approach to Hollywood, explaining, “I am very into making up my own rules. Like, I don’t want to play the game and succeed at it. I want to redefine it. That’s the only way I can deal with it. Maybe that’s naïve.”

She’s also redefining what it takes to make it on the red carpet, confessing that even though she had a blast as Alexander Wang’s date at the Met Gala this year, she’s not that into fashion. “I don’t think it’s stupid; there’s no moral reasoning … It’s just not my thing. I just have this sense of entitlement that I should be able to feel comfortable at all times, like I could go to bed at any moment in what I’m wearing.” (That’s a fashion philosophy we can get behind.)

And if you want less introspection, more jokes from the comedian, you’ll love this short film in which she and Anna Wintour swap lives (and jobs) for a day. Basically, if you thought Maya Rudolph playing Anna holding court at her local bodega was hysterical, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

Come to hear Anna Wintour crack a joke, stay for the mic drop.
