Most people have a wedding rehearsal, but Adrienne Bailon had an entire rehearsal dedicated to walking in her dress.
“I had to practice walking in it,” the co-host of The Real says in the current issue of PEOPLE. “We decided on a 21-ft. train. It’s quite epic. On midnight that evening, we had dress rehearsal because I’ve never walked with the weight of it. I think it weighed more than me.”
Bailon, 32, says her new husband, gospel singer Israel Houghton, 45, has called her a “once-in-a-lifetime woman” and she wanted to make sure she had a “once-in-a-lifetime dress” to wear at their Paris wedding.
So, the talk show host decided to design a dress with Walter Mendez, who designed her dress for the Emmy Awards in September.

“Walter creates unique dresses that are showstoppers,” say Bailon. “I love that he knows how to make a woman’s body look. I am very hippy and I love that. I love accentuating my waist and my hips and that’s what he does best.”

Bailon was even involved in the sketching of the dress.
“I wanted to be a part of the process of creating this dress,” she says. “I wanted it to be something that no one had ever worn before and never will wear again — and I think it’s safe to say that will be the case!”
