GOLD SEQUINS WITH SOMETHING EXTRA
Last year’s holiday style MVP is still very hot, according to Stacey Bendet. This fall is so much about glamour and gold, she says. But so as not to get lost in the crowd of girls all wearing metallic sequins, choose a piece with a unique embellishment, like the chain fringe on this one.

If you’ve mastered polka dots, stripes, leopard and chevron, this is going to be your new favorite pattern. Bendet recommends wearing the print in a rich shade (anything pastel and floral would look too summery).

The key to pulling off this luxe fabric? “Don’t go overboard,” warns Bendet. She tells us that if you’re going to throw on a velvet piece (like a blazer or pair of pants), your best bet is to team it with something silky “to lighten up the look and feel of the outfit”.

“I am obsessed with pairing our printed blouses with the coordinating wide leg pants,” Bendet reveals, making the case that sometimes more really is more. The one accessory you’ll need if you’re going to step out in this head-to-toe floral look? A whole lotta confidence.

Bendet refers to this decorative fabric as a “must” for fall. “It’s amazing and rich when worn as a full-skirted dress or an overcoat,” she adds. And the designer surprised us by saying that it’s the perfect complement to lace – so don’t be afraid to mix the two contrasting materials.

Bendet explains that this style of topper can be tricky to pull off, but utterly chic (and flattering) if done right. So how exactly do you do that? “Wear them over skinny bottoms like some leather leggings!”

WIDE-LEG SILKY PANTS
“You can’t go wrong with a bold bottom for fall,” swears Bendet, who is loving this funky green-and-black pair. Wear them to a holiday party with a fitted black top and a statement necklace and we guarantee you’ll stand out amid the sea of red dresses.
