2015 SI Cover Model Hannah Davis and Robyn Lawley React to the 2016 Issue: 'It's Pretty Badass'

Posted on

Cover stars Ashley Graham, Hailey Clauson and Ronda Rousey aren’t the only ones excited about the 2016 Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition covers. The 2015 cover girl Hannah Davis and former rookie Robyn Lawley are thrilled about the new issue.

“I am obsessed with it,” Davis, 25, said of the three-cover reveal. “Every year, there’s always a ‘wow’ factor and they try to shock you and do something that’s never been done. And they did it again.”

Part of last year’s ‘wow’ factor was Robyn Lawley. The 26-year-old was the first size-12 model featured on her own page in SI. Now, SI made history again by featuring size-16 body activist Graham with her very own cover. And Lawley said it’s all a move in the “right direction.”

“It’s pretty badass because not only have we got a female fighter and a beautiful blonde, we’ve also got a curvy girl,” Lawley told PEOPLE. “Beauty always come in different sizes and it always will.”

Lawley, who gave birth to her daughter Ripley last year (and just sixth months before she posed for this year’s SI issue!) is one of two moms featured in the issue.

“I had a baby and in six month’s time I had to shoot it and I was like, ‘I don’t feel like my body is any way, shape or form like it was the first time,’ ” Lawley said of her second time shooting for the magazine. “But they’re so confidence-building. They’re like, ‘No, you look great. Rock it.’ ”

As for the 2016 cover girls and their road ahead, Davis told Graham she was more than ready to dive in.

“I told her, ‘I think you’re way more prepared than any of us were when we got the cover,’ ” Davis said of her post-reveal conversation with Graham. “I know she already has a huge career, but it’s going to take her to that next level and I can’t wait to see how that goes for her.”

SI‘s swimsuit edition will hit newsstands on Feb. 15.
