Bear, Hare and Leopard – yes, those are the official names – made their grand entrance as giant animatronic toys come to life inside the Olympic stadium in Sochi on Friday.

The towering, slowly blinking beasts of the Games wheeled in shortly after the Parade of Nations, and stayed on the floor long enough to leave an impression that will last for days.
