From the eclectic Opening Ceremony to Gabby Douglas’s triumphant gold medal in the women’s all-around, we have the perfect playlist of songs to accompany the best moments of the Olympics so far.
After watching Douglas "Fly" on the uneven bars and McKayla Maroney nail a “F**kin’ Perfect” vault routine last Tuesday, we chose “This One’s For The Girls” to commemorate the USA women’s well-deserved team gold medal. Later, of course, Douglas was “The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A.” after becoming the fourth U.S. female (and first ever African-American) all-around champ. We didn’t even mind that Katy Perry‘s “Firework” was playing in the background when she won.
As for the men’s team, they were just a “Hot Mess” last Monday, landing in fifth place after a couple botched routines.
Then there was the swimming, which – by the way – “We’re #1” in. Although Lochte is coming “Home” with only one gold individual medal, he still has women all around the country saying, “You’re So Cute.” And Michael Phelps? If you’re listening, we just want to let you know that “You Take The Gold” for best comeback. (He now has 22 medals – and 18 of them are gold!)
As for that Mary Poppins-filled Opening Ceremony, let’s just say that it had everyone thinking, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!”
