Worried you might go into Olympics withdrawal now that the Games are reaching their final stretch?
Keep the Olympic flame burning long after the Closing Ceremonies Sunday, courtesy of a select group of athletes who’ve obsessively Facebooked about the Games and are fun to read. Here are the top athletes to follow on Facebook – and don’t forget to like People.com for all your celeb news.
1. Kobe Bryant, Basketball
The Lakers star is the most popular Olympian on Facebook – but is reacting to the games less like an NBA superstar and more like a superfan, posting pics of himself with his favorite Olympians – like 100m sprinter Tyson Gay – and giving complimentary shout-outs to other athletes. (His take on Michael Phelps: “We should all embrace his Olympic Era because we truly have been witnessing history in the making.”)
3. Lolo Jones, Track and Field
It’s all fun and games for Jones, who peppers her Facebook page with cheeky statuses about herself and her fellow competitors. “Italy’s in next building. Could hear shouts of joy from open windows when they won … Either that or their espresso machine finally got fixed.”
4. Jordyn Wieber, Gymnastics
Wieber’s Facebook fans have been able to share in the excitement of all her fave Olympic moments – including her meeting with Kate Middleton and her interview with Ryan Seacrest.
5. Jordan Burroughs, Wrestling
That other Jordan has chronicled every single step along his path to (hopefully) Olympic gold – right down to the moment when he got this promising fortune cookie message: A golden egg of opportunity falls into your lap this month.” Let’s hope that egg comes in the form of an Olympic medal!
6. Misty May-Treanor, Beach Volleyball
Fans have gotten to see May-Treanor tour London, model clothes, and hang out with Natalie Coughlin – but she also shares the less-than-glamorous side of her life, like her pre-game ritual: Doing her toenails and watching Sweet Home Alabama.
7. Tony Parker, Basketball
The San Antonio Spurs player – who is repping France at the Olympics – posts exclusively in French. But you don’t need a translator to get the gist of his posts, like the one where he congratulates French canoer Tony Estanguet on winning gold: “Champion olympiqueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!!! Félicitations à Tony Estanguet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
8. Shawn Johnson, 2008 All-Around Gymnastics Silver Medalist
She may not be participating in these Olympics, but Johnson’s page is brimming with perky pics of her hanging out with London luminaries like Ryan Lochte and Missy Franklin. And – of course – the 4’9″ powerhouse is dwarfed in almost every picture.
9. Nastia Liukin, 2008 All-Around Gold Medalist
Johnson’s former teammate has been hanging out with the 2012 women’s gymnastics team a lot, and she has the pics to prove it. But that’s not all: Liukin may have the coolest profile pic out of all the athletes on this list. Check out that gold medal form!
10. Jessica Ennis, Track and Field
After winning gold in the heptathlon on Saturday, the 26-year-old Brit quickly became the second most-mentioned female Olympian on Facebook (after Gabby Douglas, of course). Among her new fans? Ludacris and Bruce Jenner, who posed with the athlete for Facebook pics.
