Hope Solo isn’t apologizing (especially in 140 characters or less).

After a Twitter rant against NBC analyst Brandi Chastain earned mixed reviews from fans, the U.S. women’s soccer goalkeeper briefly addressed her opinion Monday.

“It’s not about what made me unhappy. It’s not about one game,” she told reporters during her team’s tour of historic Old Trafford stadium, where a soccer showdown between the U.S. and North Korea is scheduled for Tuesday, according to ESPN. “I have my beliefs that the best commentators and the best analysts should be analyzing come Olympics, come World Cups, and it’s only my opinion.”

She continued, “You can take it or leave it, to be honest, so it’s my opinion, and I think analysts and commentators should bring energy and excitement and passion for the game, and a lot of knowledge, and I think it’s important to help build the game – and I don’t think Brandi has that.”

The social-media drama began Saturday, when she Tweeted, “Its 2 bad we cant have commentators who better represents the team & knows more about the game @brandihastain!”

The Dancing with the Stars alum further dissed Chastain, a decorated soccer Olympian, 44, for her criticism of U.S. defender Rachel Buehler. “I feel bad 4 our fans that have 2 push mute,” she added.

Solo declined to answer follow-up questions about Chastain, focusing instead on her current milestones: the game against North Korea – and her 31st birthday (Monday).

As for Chastain, she stayed mum on Twitter, but NBC spokesman Adam Freifeld released a statement in her defense.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer such complete and compelling coverage of the entire Olympic soccer tournament, and Brandi has been doing an outstanding job,” he said. “We wish the U.S. women’s team the best of luck.”
