After a summer filled with multiple weddings (their own, for one), beach vacations (to Fiji and the French Rivera), and a few victory champagne toasts, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are getting back to work.
The Duke of Värmland and his newly minted Duchess set off on their first joint royal tour (and Sofia’s first-ever official engagement!) this week. The location was a fitting one for the couple: Värmland, a province in western Sweden and their titles namesake.
On Wednesday, Carl Philip and Sofia traveled to the town of Arvika to visit the nature preserve Byamossarna. It seems the two were excited for their first official joint engagement, telling Swedish newspaper Expressen, “We are so happy to be here.”
But the day was a soggy one, with summer rain dampening the visit – but that just gave the royals an excuse to look stylish in wellies and rain jackets for the occasion.
On the second and final day of their tour, the two ditched the wellies for a more formal look, with Sofia sporting a black-and-white dress from GANT, a Swedish label, and Carl Philip wore a suit. (As we all know, it’s his best look.”)

Despite the stormy weather throughout their visit – “It’s only rain,” Carl Philip bravely declared – the crowds came out to get a glimpse of the newlyweds.
A little more than two months after their marriage, Sofia spoke about adjusting to royal life – and how much she’s enjoying it.
“You learn so much about Sweden, it’s really fun!” she said, Expressen reported. “I see it as a great honor and I hope I can do a good job.”
