Paris Hilton's Gift for Giving?

Posted on

Ever wonder what the super-rich – like, say, Paris Hilton – buy as gifts for their friends? Something fabulous, right? Well, 24 star Elisha Cuthbert revealed that for her recent 22nd birthday, pal Hilton (the two costar in the upcoming horror remake House of Wax) gave her a bottle of her Paris Hilton perfume and a signed copy of her own book, Confessions of an Heiress. Oh, that’s not all – Cuthbert says Hilton also gave her “some Hello Kitty stuff.” We thought it sounded a bit flimsy, but Cuthbert was very gracious. “I went, ‘Of course you did! I love you!’ She’s the best. I love her. I love her to death. I thought, ‘You never know with Paris.’ But I’m in love with her. I think she’s great.”

Home for the Holidays
Mark Wahlberg is planning a low-key, down-home celebration this holiday season, he tells us. “I’m just going to stay home for Christmas, and go somewhere warm for New Year’s,” says the I Heart Huckabees star. “It’s my first Christmas in California (with) my 15-month-old (daughter Ella Rae). So we’re gonna take her to see Santa, get the tree. I’m trying not to get her everything, because she already has everything! I’m just going to go out and try to look for that one special thing. (It’s) very exciting. I’ve never spent Christmas in California. It’s very weird with the pink houses and the palm trees and 80-degree weather. My family’s coming in from Boston so it’ll be nice.” As for what he wants for Christmas: “Just to be with my daughter, and for her to be as happy as she always is.” Wahlberg may get something else, after the holidays: Entourage, the HBO show he executive produces, is up for two Golden Globes.

Together Apart
Kevin Bacon and wife Kyra Sedgwick haven’t made a habit of working together – until this year, in both Cavedweller and The Woodsman. So what’s it like teaming up professionally? “The thing that people don’t understand, it’s not like the happy couple goes off to work together,” says Bacon. “We don’t really. Sometimes we have separate dressing rooms, sometimes we don’t even have lunch together. After we’re finished, we gotta get back together.”

Vegging Out
While Martha Stewart is spending the holidays in prison, her daughter, Alexis, is taking up the family tradition of offering culinary advice – via activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. The younger Stewart can be heard on PETA’s holiday hotline (888-VEG-FOOD), reminding people to be sensitive to the dietary preferences of their vegetarian guests. “Chances are, if you’re hosting the holiday feast this year, you’ll have at least one friend or family member who doesn’t eat meat,” says Stewart on the recorded message. “Whether for ethical or health reasons, millions of Americans have gone vegetarian, and it’s now easier than ever to keep veggie guests happy at holiday gatherings. To ensure your menu doesn’t ruffle anybody’s feathers, visit for handy tips and tasty recipes.” Perhaps Martha can offer some guidance on cooking vegetables in the microwave?
