Kelly Preston's Younger Man?

Posted on

Well here’s to you, Mrs. Travolta … We hear that Kelly Preston, 41, will appear as the sultry older woman who romances Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine in the upcoming video for the band’s single “She Will Be Loved,” a post-modern take on the 1967 film The Graduate. Director Sophie Muller initially suggested Demi Moore, but the band thought her spotlight might shine a little too brightly. Sharon Stone was another candidate, but the band thought she was too sexy for the character. Preston fit the bill, and flew to L.A. from a vacation in Florida just to shoot the video. Our spies tell us she looked beautiful and was very friendly to everyone on the set. Perhaps she looked too good – we hear that Levine’s girlfriend, model Kelly McKee, who romped with the singer in the band’s “This Love” video, left the set while the reportedly steamy love scenes were filming.

High Price of Fashion
French actress Julie Delpy graciously accepted compliments for the beautiful striped, long-sleeved Missoni dress she wore to a recent press event for her film with Ethan Hawke, Before Sunset – until she eventually had to come clean about it. “It’s not mine,” she said. “It’s too expensive.”

Party Time
It seems the place to be after the BET Awards this week was record producer and Janet Jackson beau Jermaine Dupri’s afterparty at L.A. hotspot Concorde – if you could get in, that is. We heard that Ludacris and members of OutKast were turned away (though we’re told it’s because their entourages were too big). Celebrity guests who did manage to make it inside included Mekhi Phifer, Shawn Wayans, Usher, actor Henry Simmons (NYPD Blue), Girlfriends star Tracee Ellis Ross and director-producer Brett Ratner. As for Dupri, he had this to say about the awards: “It was a great show. Jay-Z was great when he brought out Kid Rock. It was totally unexpected and I like that. And I loved Janet’s performance. She doesn’t tell me anything about her performances (in advance). I’m like a fan when I watch her show.”

Blonde Ambitions
Between performing, traveling, doing interviews and everything else that goes into a summer tour, how do stars keep their locks golden on the road? We just had to ask.
Madonna: Prive colorist Steven Tapp joins her on her Re-Invention tour for color touch-ups. “To maintain her new very light, bright blonde locks that I created for the tour, I fly out to see Madonna every few weeks,” Tapp tells us. “She’s a wonderful person to work with.” (But does he call her Esther?) Tapp’s other celeb clients include Carmen Electra, Naomi Watts, Christina Applegate and Cameron Diaz.
Jewel: Before hitting the road for her summer tour, Jewel hit Prive in L.A. (with her little dog in tow) to polish and update her look with stylist Carlos Rodriguez. He added more layers to her hair and darkened the underside to add depth.
Jessica Simpson: While on her Reality tour, Simpson gets her blonde locks touched up every three to four weeks by her colorist of the past six years, Rita Hazan of New York’s Adir salon.
