Justin's Down-Home Holiday

Posted on

It was a down-home Fourth of July weekend for Justin Timberlake, who took his sweetie, Cameron Diaz, to Memphis to see some family and, well, pay tribute to Elvis. Cameron stood by her man as he became an “ambassador of Memphis” (along with Isaac Hayes and others) Monday during the 50-year anniversary celebration of Presley’s recording of the song “That’s All Right” at famed Sun Studios. She waved at fans as Justin signed autographs, and the pair was gone before noon.

Justin popped up again in New York on Tuesday night to catch his former ‘N Sync bandmate Joey Fatone’s performance in Broadway’s Little Shop of Horrors. Afterward he headed over to hotspot Suede for Fatone’s weekly TNT Tuesday night party, arriving at 11:30 and partying till 3 a.m. (Cameron will be happy to know that although she wasn’t there, Justin politely rebuffed all the female admirers who approached him.) At one point Justin was having such a great time that he stood up, grabbed the microphone and said, “This is for my friends Eytan (Suede’s owner, Eytan Sugarman) and Joey,” and proceeded to sing an impromptu version of his hit song “Like I Love You.” With the crowd in a frenzy, Justin stayed on the mic, instructed resident DJ Quinn which songs to play and sang along to hits by Michael Jackson, Prince and Jay-Z.

Bull Artist
There was a time when NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman ran with the Bulls – of the Chicago variety, that is. This week the retired basketball star decided to play with a more dangerous breed – of the angry, behorned variety – by running with the bulls at the traditional event in Pamplona, Spain. Why? “My two kids are Taurus, I’m a Taurus and my wife’s a Taurus, so it’s a good mix,” he told us during the weekend at a party in the hip-hop room at Miami hotspot the Mansion. At the party – also attended by fellow hoops greats Michael Jordan, Dikembe Mutombo, Patrick Ewing and Charles Oakley – Rodman got up onstage and had the names of his kids tattooed on his chest while onlookers gaped. As for the run in Pamplona on Wednesday, “I wasn’t afraid,” Rodman told the Associated Press. “I like strong emotions.”

Forever Family Man
Who says rock and roll isn’t for kids? Eric Clapton’s two children (with Melia McEnery), Julie Rose, 3, and Ella, 17 months, have come to hear their dad practice during his recent tour, says bandmate Doyle Bramhall II. “They’ll come to rehearsals and dance onstage,” he says. “Eric will play specific songs for them to dance to, and he’ll request the band to turn it down for the kids, and then we’ll play a short set for the kids.”

Caught in the Act
Spotted Recently:
Sharon Osbourne, at the Pout cosmetics counter in the posh Harvey Nichols store in Leeds. (Maybe it’s daughter Kelly’s influence?) She picked out bright, daring colors such as Miss Brazil (an eye shadow duo with an iridescent purple and gold copper shimmer), Eye Envy You (a bright emerald eyeliner) and the Carpet Burn and Hot Flush lipsticks. Our spy tells us Mama Osbourne knew exactly what she wanted and was very chatty with the staff.
