It wasn’t just Chris Martin and his group Coldplay who got the crowd on their feet after the band’s recent sold-out gig at Chicago’s intimate club Metro. Martin’s wife Gwyneth Paltrow, who was perched in the VIP balcony section of the venue, also received a standing ovation from the crowd of 1,100 concertgoers. After applauding the band, the fans turned and gave their attention to Paltrow, who “smiled and waved and was very gracious,” says club owner Joe Shanahan.

The audience couldn’t help but notice Paltrow, who attended the gig with several female friends. During the show, she and Martin “gave a wink and wave to each other – you could tell they were very much in love,” says Shanahan. And Martin dedicated the group’s hit song “Yellow” to her. She “beamed and her face lit up like a spotlight,” Shanahan adds.

When the show came to a close, Paltrow headed out for a night with pals while Martin jetted off to nearby SmartBar for a post-performance celebration.

Moore on the Move
Mandy Moore will be making her way to the small screen, when the hit HBO show Entourage returns for its second season on June 5. The actress (who recently finished filming the movie musical Romance & Cigarettes, which costars Kate Winslet and The Sopranos’ James Gandolfini) will guest-star on five episodes of the show. “It’s so much fun,” she says. “They’re such sweet guys.” Though her acting career is taking off, she’s not leaving music behind. “I’m doing a record right now,” she told us at the recent Ace of Hearts Hollywood Dog Bowl charity event.

The Stones Roll On
Announcing a new world tour kicking off Aug. 21 at Boston’s Fenway Park, the Rolling Stones gave students at the Juilliard School of Music a lesson they won’t forget. The group played a surprise outdoor gig for them recently in New York City, including the classic songs “Start Me Up” and “Brown Sugar” and a new song, “Oh No Not You Again.” And frontman Mick Jagger revealed another treat for fans. “The stadium stage has got, for the first time, some of the audience in the stage,” says Jagger. “They’ll get a great view of our bums, so we’re going to have to work on them.” The band is also at work on a still-untitled new studio album, due later this year.
