“This party sucks,” Pamela Anderson joked at the American Music Awards afterparty hosted by Stuff magazine and on-again, off-again boyfriend Kid Rock (who appears in the December issue). The highlight of her evening? “Him winning his award (for favorite male artist),” she told People. The former Baywatch babe – dressed in a black Dolce & Gabbana dress – arrived at Hollywood hot spot Forbidden City holding hands with the bad-boy rocker shortly after 9 p.m. They spent much of the night in a private upstairs VIP area while Macy Gray, Avril Lavigne and Pink danced and mingled with partygoers below. Hitting the town with Rock just two weeks after ex-husband Tommy Lee hinted about a possible reconciliation, Anderson has left many celebrity watchers confused. “And that’s exactly the way we like it,” she told us.
JESSICA SIMPSON’S CROSS TO BEAR
Christmas came early for the AMAs’ performers and presenters. Stars including Sheryl Crow, Hilary Duff and Rod Stewart each took home customized gift bags – duffel bags, actually – loaded with goodies valued at more than $30,000. Among the contents: first-class airline tickets, Rio MP3 players, Beamer videophones, Suunto computer wristwatches, hot-air balloon rides, home microbrewery systems and Tempur-Pedic mattresses. Britney Spears, Pink and Jessica Simpson also left with sterling silver cross necklaces from Scott Kay jewelers valued between $1,000 and $3,000. “I am jealous of Jess’s goodie bag,” younger sister Ashlee Simpson confessed. “I am going to make her share some of it with me. Hopefully, I’ll get some beauty products out of the deal.”
TV WITCH’S GOOSE IS COOKED
Newlywed Melissa Joan Hart is finally learning to cook. The onetime Sabrina, the Teenage Witch star has enrolled in three classes at the popular Epicurean cooking school in West Hollywood. “I am taking a Chicken 101 and a Christmas cookies class and one where you learn to make a whole eight-course meal,” she told PEOPLE at the Old Bags luncheon to benefit Lupus research. “I am having all of my in-laws over, so I’m trying to learn how to cook Christmas dinner.” Until now, Hart, 27, has looked to her mother for advice in the kitchen. “She was like, ‘Here’s how you do it: You prepare the lasagna a week ahead and put it in the freezer,’ ” the actress said, laughing. No doubt new husband Mark Wilkerson is relieved.
