BEN’S AWAY, J.LO PLAYS
When Ben’s away, what’s a lonely Jennifer Lopez to do? She could stay home and knit… or she could party up a storm with former flame P. Diddy. Lopez opted for the latter Sunday night in Miami. P. Diddy, J. Lo and their respective entourages of bodyguards and assistants arrived at hip nightspot Opium Garden/Prive sometime between 12:30 and 1 a.m. and entered the VIP area. “J.Lo and P. Diddy were hanging out and talking and (were) virtually together all night till about 4 a.m., when they left,” a club staffer tells PEOPLE.com. “They danced and drank, and had a great time.” Beverage of choice? For P. Diddy it was Cuervo 1800 tequila. Meanwhile, his squeeze, Kim Porter, was nowhere to be found, and Affleck is in London promoting Paycheck. Could this be Jen’s payback for Ben’s notorious strip club adventure in Vancouver in July? You decide. A Lopez rep says she never comments on J.Lo’s personal life.
THE BIG CHILL
Friends star David Schwimmer didn’t let his upset on Bravo’s Celebrity Poker Showdown stop him from visiting Atlantic City recently. The actor was spotted enjoying Latin-Asian fusion cuisine at Mixx at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. Later he worked off the extra calories at the hotel’s 50,000-sq.-ft. Spa Toccare.
DRESS LIKE A ROCK STAR?
The Goo Goo Dolls had a rock ‘n’ roll fashion emergency before their New Year’s Eve show at House of Blues in Las Vegas – but clothier Elton Salinas, owner of the high-end Elton’s men’s boutique at the Mandalay Place shopping center, came to the rescue. Salinas got a frantic phone call from band frontman John Rzeznik at around 6 p.m. “He wanted to know if we could furnish (the band) in suits in a short period of time,” Salinas recalls. “They needed (them) altered and delivered to them in two hours.” The band’s tab came to $20,000, which included Rzeznik’s black, three-button Hugo Boss suit, black Hugo Boss shirt and Donald J. Pliner shoes. “It’s always unusual when a rock band walks in and they want to dress like Wall Street,” says Salinas.
ACT LIKE A ROCK STAR?
Instead of just enjoying a concert by 1970s supergroup Styx at the Canyon Supper Club in Agoura Hills, Calif., recently, actor and sometime-musician Billy Bob Thornton got in on the act. Thornton joined the band onstage briefly before its encore (for “Renegade”) and then at the end of the set for the final bows. It wasn’t the first time for this musical meeting of the minds: Styx guitarist and singer Tommy Shaw joined Thornton onstage when he opened for Heart at L.A.’s Greek Theater in August 2003.
CAUGHT IN THE ACT
• Ja Rule, mobbed by fans as he left the ESPN studios in New York City after taping a segment on the morning talk show Cold Pizza.
• Sweet Home Alabama star Josh Lucas, in a white T-shirt and sweats, lifting weights with a trainer (the same one Keanu Reeves uses) at the Workout Warehouse in Hollywood.
• Queen Latifah, smoking and wearing a Nike sweatsuit, looking at fake flowers at Bristol Farms supermarket in Hollywood before driving away in a white Cadillac SUV.
