BAYWATCH BABE TO SUPERWOMAN?
“I’ve figured out my life – it’s structured in a way where it works for me,” Pamela Anderson told us at a recent Sirius Satellite Radio party in New York. That’s no small feat, given that the buxom star has had her hands full lately – among other things, she’s launching a clothing line, The Pamela Collection, this month and pens a monthly column for Jane magazine. She also lends her voice to Stripperella, an animated series about a stripper-superhero on Spike TV, is writing two novels that are “loosely based on my life” as part of a deal with Simon and Schuster, and “I do an advice column for Elle too.” All this, and “I don’t have a nanny,” Anderson says. “I figure I work when my kids are at school and I travel when my kids are at their father’s (rocker Tommy Lee) every second weekend.” And, as if she didn’t have enough on her plate already, Anderson says she’s “possibly going to do a very, very, very big movie, and I’m not allowed to say what it is, but it’s going to be within the next year.” Stay tuned.
SPEAKING OF BUSY STAR MOMS …
How does Kate Winslet manage a busy career and motherhood? “You have to compartmentalize, even if it means losing sleep,” the British actress told James Lipton in an interview for Bravo’s Inside the Actor’s Studio. (She had baby Joe with her husband, director Sam Mendes, in December. Her daughter, Mia, with first husband Jim Threapleton, is 3.) Still, even Winslet has her limits. When Lipton teased her by asking her to tap dance for the audience full of acting and directing students, Winslet cried: “I’m lactating here, I can’t!” Her advice to the students? Acting is “the most insane thing to do with your life, so don’t do it,” she joked. The interview is scheduled to air in March; Winslet will appear next on the big screen alongside Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
EQUAL TIME FOR DAD
When he’s not rehearsing or performing in the hit Broadway show The Producers, Matthew Broderick says he’s content to stay at home with son James. “I have to admit, I’m very happy to have him,” he tells PEOPLE.com. “With The Producers, I’m home a lot in the day. It’s a very good schedule. It’s worse for sleep is all.”
CAUGHT IN THE ACT
• Alyssa Milano, having a bit of trouble during a recent snowboarding lesson at the Snow Summit resort near Los Angeles. “She ate snow a couple of times. She seemed like a first timer … at least on a board,” says our spy on the scene. “She got frustrated and bailed early from the constant face- and butt-plants.” But the Charmed star still managed to look cool in a pink parka with navy-and-white ski pants, a white hat and a powder-blue mini backpack.
• Tennis greats Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, dining at the Lark Creek Inn in Larkspur, Calif., just north of San Francisco.
• Burt Reynolds, leaving Book Soup on L.A.’s Sunset Boulevard and getting into a white convertible.
