She plays a good-natured shampoo girl in the movie Beauty Shop, but Alicia Silverstone is excited to get downright mean in her new FOX show Queen B. “I play this nasty girl. It’s really excitingly different,” she told us at hot club Prive in Miami, where she was being honored as the cover girl of Ocean Drive magazine’s April issue.
The pilot, which she’s currently filming, is her first starring vehicle since her 2003 NBC series Miss Match and Silverstone – who is also a coproducer on the project – loves being in the driver’s seat. “I got to cast it, work on the script. It’s a great job,” she said.
Black Eyed Peas‘ frontwoman Fergie is going solo – without leaving her multiplatinum-selling group, that is. The singer is pulling a Gwen Stefani and releasing her own effort. “It’s going to be a deeper look into who I am – but definitely with a hip-hop base,” she told us at the Paper magazine and Jaguar party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. “I’m so excited about it.”
Fergie is also gearing up for the June 7 release of her group’s upcoming album Monkey Business (the first single, “Don’t Phunk with My Heart,” has already hit airwaves) and a world tour. “I couldn’t be happier with the way everything is going right now,” Fergie told us. “It’s a dream.”
