On Sunday, CNN’s Jake Tapper told Trump’s campaign manager of a man at the rally in Phoenix yelling “Jew-S-A” at the press as the crowd chanted “U-S-A.” The man held a Trump-Pence sign and wore a “Hillary for Prison” t-shirt.
“His conduct is completely unacceptable and does not reflect our campaign or our candidate,” Conway said before defending the majority of Trump supporters as “USA-loving Americans who just want their country to be prosperous and safe again.”
She continued, “That man’s conduct was deplorable. His conduct is completely unacceptable and does not reflect our campaign or our candidate. And had I been there, I would have asked security to remove him immediately. Clearly, he doesn’t speak for the campaign or the candidate.”
“The racists, sexists, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it,” she said.
Clinton later apologized, saying her comment was “grossly generalistic” and adding, “I regret saying ‘half.’ ”
Trump feasted on the moment, creating an ad called “Deplorables” in which the narrator says, “You know what’s deplorable? Hillary Clinton viciously demonizing hard working people like you.”
